  • Response: Authorities immediately rushed seven fire tenders and bomb disposal units to the site. The area has been completely cordoned off, and a team from the Delhi Police Special Cell and the National Investigation Agency (NIA) is at the spot.

  • Nature of Explosion: The exact cause and nature of the explosion are not yet officially known, and an investigation is underway to determine if it was an accident or a deliberate act of terror. A high alert has been sounded across Delhi and neighboring states, including Uttar Pradesh.

📰 Background: Recent Terror Busts in Delhi-NCR

It is important to note that this explosion follows a major counter-terror operation that was announced just yesterday (November 9th), which busted a network with links near Delhi.

Faridabad Explosives Seizure

  • What Happened: A joint police operation recovered a massive cache of explosive materials from a rented accommodation in Faridabad, Haryana (part of the Delhi-NCR).

  • Seized Materials: Authorities seized approximately 360 kg of suspected ammonium nitrate, along with an assault rifle, pistol, 20 timers, remote controls, and other components for large-scale Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs).

  • Arrests: A doctor from Jammu & Kashmir was arrested in connection with the cache, with links to the Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terror group.

The fact that today's blast occurred following the recovery of a massive cache of explosives nearby indicates a heightened security threat in the National Capital Region.
