Location: Nambol Sabal Leikai, Bishnupur district, Manipur. Nature of the Attack A vehicle carrying Assam Rifles personnel (a convoy of 33 personnel) was ambushed by unidentified gunmen/terrorists. The attack involved firing; the attackers used a 407 Tata vehicle for the Assam Rifles convoy. The attack route was along National Highway 2, moving from Imphal toward Bishnupur. Casualties 2 Assam Rifles jawans were killed and 5 jawans were injured. The injured were transported to Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) for treatment. Aftermath & Response A manhunt / search operations has been launched to track down the assailants. Local police along with Assam Rifles responded; civilians helped in transport of injured.
